Dare to Dream

Mission: The purpose of the Dare to Dream program is to promote personal social and civic responsibility, multicultural cooperation, academic   achievement and service learning through fun activity based after school classes and events.

 Program:

1.     Instructors:  Participating schools identify one of their after-school instructors to be trained and to teach the Dare to Dream class, which meets at least three hours per week after school during the school year. The instructor will participate in the eight Dare to Dream Facility Training Workshop at Scout Island.

 

2.     Student:  Every student will identify their dream, learn to appreciate the diversity and dream of others, develop leadership skills, and collaborate on service projects to practice applying the values of respect, unity and responsibility. Students will keep a Dare to Dream Journal and participate in three days of Dare to Dream leadership Camp at Scout Island beginning in October.

 

3.     F.C.O.E. staff:  Dare to Dream staff provides curriculum resource consultation and class presentation, monthly or more after by request.

 

4.     Dare to Dream Camps:  3 or 4 days of Dare to Dream camps, for students and staff at Scout Island include fun activities, leadership training, teambuilding challenges, and goal setting sessions. The fall\winter camps emphasize leadership and service learning training and cooperative human relation while the spring camps emphasize reflection and celebration.

 

5.     Parent Involvement:  Parents attend orientation meetings to learn about the program, find out how to support it at home and school, and to acknowledge student achievements.

 

6.     Community Involvement:  We invite participation and collaboration with Community Based Organizations, the Fresno Country Youth Service Council, Government Agencies, local business and Youth Service Providers.
